You Never Know What You'll Find on eBay

Let's face it, eBay is a fascinating website (at least, it used to be, before it became Paypal exclusive): whatever you may be looking for in the way of forgotten old treasures, eBay was the place to look for them, and at the same time, you never really knew what you might have turned up when browsing through the site.

 

Every once in a while, however, there will be some kind of joker who tries to sell off really odd and unusual items on eBay, such as a piece of toast with Jesus' face on it, or a teenaged girl selling her virginity...

 

But this really is something you have to see to believe: some joker on eBay is selling what he claims to be actual Muppet puppets that were used by Jim Hanson [sic] and Fronk [sic] Oz on SESAME STREET, and that they were given to him by the former vice president of PBS... so, are they for real? I don't know, you tell me...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh, well, this right here must prove that these things are legit!

My only guess is that puppet builder, Don Sahlin, was in a hurry and in a bad mood that day.

The Worst Puppet Show Ever?

It's been a really, really long time since I last reviewed something about how horrible, creepy, and disturbing it is (ala my Wonderbang nightmare review back in 2007), but perhaps this may take the cake, as it's real... real, as in, this was an actual series, as opposed to a school project uploaded to YouTube.

Anyway, not much is known about this old children's series entitled Peppermint Park, other than it was especially produced for VHS, and that it featured some of the most horrible, terrible, and creepiest puppets you have ever seen... there are some clips that have been posted on YouTube, so here are some examples for your own consideration... warning... view at your own risk...

Not only are the puppets terribly creepy-looking (like those almost life-like dolls Santa would leave under your tree if you had been bad that year), but the whole concept of this seems like they were basically trying to do their own Sesame Street, and let's face it, the educational value of these clips are... not very well executed... almost as if whoever was responsible for all of this took a look at Sesame Street, decided he/she could do it too, and went ahead and did so, without really doing any research for content or anything.

The only good thing about all of this, that I can think of, is that apparently this show is so underground and obscure, there isn't even a Wikipedia article about it.

I can't imagine little kids benefitting from seeing anything like this.

Beware of Joseph Sirrico

Sometimes there's people out there who like to take the creations of other people, and try to pass it off as their own, and that's precisely what one nutcase is doing, and he's become like a plague to people of the internet, especially those in puppetry.

His name is Joseph Sirrico, and he has claimed creativity and ownership of the works of several other puppeteers from internet, including the likes of Jarrod Boucher, Julio Robles, as well as even claiming credit for writing the song "Life's a Happy Song" from The Muppets (2011).

Anyone who uses the internet as a means of garnering more exposure for their puppetry is at risk of being the victim of theft by this guy; while luckily, I haven't noticed the likes of Steve D'Monster, Bethany Crystal, or The Squirrely Squirrels being claimed as accomplishments by this guy, there is some slight damage already being done, considering the two of us do have very similar names, and there has been a case of almost mistaken identity when at first glance, a friend of mine thought it was me who recently sent him an add on Facebook, before double checking and seeing it wasn't me.

Again, if you're a puppeteer and have shared your work on the internet, you're at risk of this guy, I would suggest you check both his YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/jojo18ization though it would seem his has removed all of his puppetry videos) and his Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Puppeterz-Show/224938324233218?sk=wall) frequently to make sure your work doesn't pop up on either, and he claims them as his own, and if he does, make sure to fight back, do not let him get away with this; if some of us didn't know anybody, he could very well be certifiably insane.
